Sailing Books

I carry many different reference books on Gypsy Dancer to help me understand, maintain and repair the boat and her systems. I also carry a good range of cruising guides for the areas I sail. Below are some of the books I have found most useful.

Recommendation: If you only buy one technical book to carry aboard your boat make sure it's Nigel Calder's "Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual ". It is the most comprehensive and practical book there is to help you understand, maintain, fault-find and repair your mechanical and electrical systems.

Practical & Technical Books

Cruising Guides
Good cruising guides are essential for comfortable cruising. Those by Chris Doyle and Stephen J. Pavlidis are the most useful in the Caribbean. The Bonnie Dahl guide is the best for Lake Superior.

Skipper Bob's New York Canal and Intra-coastal Waterway Guides
These are low cost but essential guides if you want to nagivate the Erie Canal and Hudson River, and use anchorages while traversing the ICW.
