Grenada ~ ...

'Lucky Bird' a Moody 425 leaving Prickly Bay.The first of the month found Gypsy Dancer in Clarke's Court Bay, Grenada waiting for weather to move north to Antigua for the Classic Boat Sailing Festival.

Scott (Boxxer) and I sailed back to Prickly Bay for a great evening at De Big Fish with Doc Adams' Blues Band as the main entertainment. A very popular event, well attended by cruisers and excellent music too.

I finally left Prickly Bay on Easter Sunday and sailed north to Tyrrel Bay on Carriacou. The weather was unusually hazy due to the Saharan dust being acrried across the region by high-altitude winds.

Tug and tow off Grenada also showing dust haze.Off the north-west tip of Grenada I crossed paths with a leatherback turtle, only the second one I've seen in four years. They are huge and impressive, and very primitive looking animals. I also crossed path's with a tug and tow that changed direction in front of me and forced me to avoid them.

On Easter Monday I motored round from Tyrrel Bay to Hillsborough Bay to check out. After queuing in the immigration office for half and hour chatting to other cruisers and finding no customs on duty I sailed north past Union Island and then hardened up against wind and current towards Bequia. A confused sea built up south of Bequia so I motor-sail tacked for the last two hours into Admiralty Bay.

I arrived at sunset on the last day of Bequia Easter Regatta. The sreets were full of partying locals and racers with music to match. However I slept well despite the sound volume - sailing dulls the senses!
